Soundtrack Analysis

All of these tracks have an eerie feel to them which is good for the thriller genre and could be used when the character is walking down the street to go to the shops and she’s texting and then we see shots of the man following her. It creates suspense as it is quite a dark piece of music and coinciding it with the shots will make the audience anticipate what will happen next.

My role

This week we are working on our second planning and research presentation and adding things that we needed to expand on. This included things such soundtack analysis and expanding on the BBFC analysis. I was in charge of doing the soundtrack analysis and this involved listening to soundtracks from freeplay music and Jamendo.com to find appropriate music which would fit the codes and conventions of a crime/thriller/indie film which is our genre. After completing my part of the presentation we will present it as a group and then it will be uploaded. Furthermore, our vox pop that we created will be added to the presentation which will also be uploaded to my blog.

My Role

This week I am incorporating the costume and props slides and the genre conventions that I made into the first research and planning powerpoint presenation. After it has all been added the presenation will be finished and we will be ready to present the presentation which will also be uploaded. This week our group also practised some shooting with the camera with shots like zooming and focusing. This will help us a lot in our filming however, we also have the experience of doing our 6th form trailers.

My Role

This week, our group has been planning and researching different ideas on the story and what genre conventions we were going to use for our Thriller/Crime. My role this week was to come up with ideas for costume & props and also genre conventions and the moodboard. I researched different kinds of films of out genre and then the group had decided that the main character would be a plain isolated girl so i looked up plain clothes such as plain jeans and a plain white t shirt with plain trainers. This is to reflect her personality through what she wears. Furthermore, in decided on probs such as the make of the mobile phone and laptops for certain scenes in the film. The moodboard was made up of different pictures which inspired our group for the story we came up with. The different pictures are quite dark and isolated and show films such as trainspotting, this is england, and shallow grave which are social realism films which was out original genre however as a group we realised our story line was bordering more towards the thriller / crime genre.
